Mabel Sunga Acosta is a city councilor of the First District of Davao City from 2001 to 2010 and 2013 to present. She heads the City Council’s Committee on Education and continues her advocacies on good governance as one of the Champions of the KAYA NATIN Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership.
Team Mabel together with Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta and Brgy. Capt. Jeanette Rodas headed the Mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-up last April 3 (Friday) at Barangay Lasang, Davao City. The tree planting was held in celebration of the 7th Anniversary of MABEL AT YOUR SERVICE RADIO PROGRAM.
It is the second time that Team Mabel planted trees in the coastal areas of Barangay Lasang, with the aim of preserving and rehabilitating the city's limited mangrove areas.
Mangroves are one of the world's most threatened habitats of marine species. More than half the world's mangrove forests have already been destroyed.
