BANTAY BATA 163 DAVAO TAKBO PARA SA BATA

More than 800 running enthusiasts participated Bantay Bata's "Takbo Para Sa Bata" Fun Run last October 26, 2008, Sunday, in support of Bantay Bata, as well as other NGO's advocating children's rights call to stop corporal punishment against children. The participants include, among others, employees from the local government (including the staff of Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta who participated in full force), members of the Philippine National Police, members of non-governmental organizations, members of the academe, as well as other people coming from all walks of life.

The categories were, 2K for children 12 years and below, 5K for children and adults, and there is also the wheelchair category for those who are differently abled individuals. Aside from the fun run which is the main event, other activities like magic shows and raffle events were also staged by the organizers from Bantay Bata.

Bantay Bata hopes to continue this annual fun run event, which is now on its sixth year, to advocate for the protection of children's rights, among others.

Bantay Bata 163 is a non-stock/non-profit non-government organization (NGO) whose primary aim is to provide care and welfare to children who were victims of abuses in any form.

Hello Ms. Eva,

We are happy that we are equally committed to serve and support not only the BB163 Davao but also other shelters, which also looks into the benefit of our less fortunate children. Councilor Mabel is also the current Chairperson of the Board of Advisers of BB163 Davao.

We really appreciate for sharing your thoughts to the BB163 event.

God Bless you more.

A blessed day to you Ms. Acosta. My name is Mark(a resident of Davao City) - mlester1997@yahoo.com.ph

I was hoping that you could probably check this radio station who is using their program to encourage if not create an atmosphere of perverseness among the people of Davao City. I need not elaborate on this but please find time to listen to it. Its called ering ering - which i believe bares a more bastos meaning.im not familiar with the frequency but i think its an fm Radio. the conversation they let people have over the radio waves is disgusting and speaks of a lot of things that will later become immoral. Its sad because it is a means by which this radio station to generate or retain more listeners.

On another note it made me very happy that we have an ANTI-SMOKING ORDINANCE here in Davao City but the sad part is that people find ways of working around the said ordinance by simply smoking in open spaces where people flock either to commute or simply a place not classified as part of those which were identified by the ordinance but still a lot of people converge in such areas such as pedestrian lanes etc. I sure would like to keep my lungs healthy as well as that of my family especially my kids po. I am not sure how this will come about, i think its stopping the holes of the ordinance by some sort of revision - i guess.

With those two things raised i appreciate your assistance as well as extending such to the mayor of Davao City for his part in somehow ensuring that our city remains clean in all facet of life.

Thank you very much and God bless you!
Shalom!
